Quick audio playback on a flagship device
Background
In 2021, Alexa launched its flagship wall-mounted Echo Show 15. This device is optimized for household management tasks with a form factor similar to a family bulletin board. A series of new UI patterns were designed and propagated to other devices, including a customizable widget dashboard. I was tasked with creating the Audio team’s music widget for all Hub and FireTV devices.
Goals
Create the first music widget on Alexa, encouraging single-tap playback of recently played and recommended music content.
Increase engagement with recommended content to help customers broaden their music repertoire.
Collaborate with Alexa’s central Devices Design team to inform patterns and requirements for the overall widget gallery as it was being designed.
Streaming providers required attribution within the widget, and a scalable layout was needed to accommodate nine languages for internationalization.
Recommended content
Customers will see personalized recommendations from their preferred music provider when Alexa recognizes them
